Virus Removal Methods and Techniques
Antivirus programs will detect viruses on your computer then either quarantine or delete the virus. Virus programs can spread
components of themselves around on your computer. There will be malicious settings and files that contain the components necessary for the
virus to work. Antivirus programs will modify your settings and delete or move files to eliminate a virus. Since there are many components
involved in viruses it is up to antivirus programs to detect and modify those components to disable the virus. There is a big difference in
the effectiveness of virus removal abilities in different programs because it involves identifying all the components of a virus.
Quarantine
Quarantine isolates viruses from the rest of your computer to prevent an infection. Quarantine is used by Antivirus programs to temporary hold
viruses until destruction, keeping questionable files that it is not totally sure are viruses or to hold viruses that have not been identified yet.
A Quarantine feature keeps an anti-virus from deleting items which may look like viruses but don't actually show up as viruses or are identified as parts
of a program that is legitamite. Quarantines also function as sort of "holding cells" for new types of viruses that are not yet identified by an
anti-virus company as "known".
